Happy Half Term Holiday!
As we approach the end of the first half of the Summer Term, we have many things to celebrate as a Maidensbridge community and lots of exciting events to look forward to for the last half of our term.
This week is a very busy week with Year 6 off to the the lake for a day of water sports and Years 5 and 6 are practicing being road safe with the Bikeability course that they are undertaking. We also have Year 4 practising their map skills with their orienteering this week and Reception, Year 1 and 2 are in the Forest. A fantastic week of learning outside of the classroom.
Year 6 showed their resilience last week as they approached their SATs tests with calm confidence and gave 100% to everything that was asked of them. Well done children we are very proud of you!
Year 5 also received the Respect trophy for their fantastic support of Year 6 and for making sure that Year 6 had the best conditions possible for their tests by quietly working in their classroom. Great support, thank you.
Make sure you add the dates at the bottom of the newsletter, to your diary because next half term is packed full of celebration and opportunity for all!
The Green Team Challenge!
Don't forget that The Green Team need your help! We need decorated stones with pictures of minibeasts and small bug hotels created to support our Wall Heath in Bloom friends. They are going for Gold and need our contributions from the young members of Wall Heath. The judging will take place in the first week of July, so if you have any time over the half term holiday to create and make, we would be very grateful.
Money Sense Award
The children across school have been working very hard on their careers curriculum and part of this has been their work with HSBC. We have had visits and workshops from HSBC, teaching us all about our money and how to look after it when we are older. This work has resulted in the school being awarded the HSBC Money Sense Award. Well done everyone! Great life lessons and preparation for adulthood!
Police at Pre-school
This term, pre-school have been learning all about people who help us. The children were very lucky to receive a special visit from our local PCSOs, who spoke to them about their important role in helping and keeping our community safe. They all had a chance to see the police car and the flashing lights and there were many excited children with lost of questions.
Choir Concert at Crestwood Secondary School Theatre
Our fantastic choir are putting on their very own concert on Wednesday 3rd June at Crestwood Secondary School. The choir have increased in numbers and built such a repertoire of songs that we just had to find a stage that was big enough to showcase their talent! Crestwood have very kindly donated the theatre to us so that we can put on a concert to a larger audience. We look forward to seeing you there.
Governor Visit Day
It was great to have our Governors in school this half term, visiting all of the classes and talking to the children about their learning in PSHE and what they have learnt about careers this year. Governors described our children as articulate and enthusiastic about talking about their learning. We would like to thank the Governors for their time and support for Maidensbridge, as they visit each term.
