Reception Forest School

It gives me great pleasure to inform you that Reception’s Forest School experience will start on Friday 21st April 2023. Forest School originated in Scandinavia during the 1950’s with an aim to encourage children to learn social, physical and educational skills, whilst developing their appreciation and understanding of the natural environment. The Forest School ethos promotes active learning and exploration through unique and unforgettable learning experiences which enriches the Early Years Foundation Stage and Primary Curriculum.

As a fully qualified Level 3 Forest School Leader, I will deliver the sessions with the support of Mr Bott, who has completed Level 1 Forest School training and the extended Forest School Team which comprises of Maidensbridge staff and volunteers. The sessions run with a high adult ratio so, without the support of the Forest School Team, these sessions will not be able to take place. We would appreciate the assistance of additional helpers to support the sessions. If you are interested in supporting some or all of the sessions, please inform the school office of your availability as soon as possible.

The sessions take place every Friday from Friday 21st April to Friday 7th July inclusive.

The weekly sessions will take place in most weather conditions and suitable waterproof clothing will be provided for each child. However, for the sessions, your child will be required to come to school dressed in old comfortable clothing that consists of:

· a long-sleeved top

· a jumper or fleece (no hooded tops)

· long trousers (no shorts)

· warm waterproof coat

· a hat

· pair of gloves

· wellingtons or walking boots.

During the warmer weather, please ensure that your child is wearing a lightweight version of the required clothing and a hat or cap is provided. Please note that wellingtons or walking boots will be required for each session.
